Once More... a farce in many parts. A comedy in others.

Snippets of the new Wallflowers

Posted on October 28th, 2000 / comments

Snippets of the new Wallflowers single keep running through my mind. Not a huge fan of the group. Not a huge fan of the song. But It’s where I’m from that lets them think I’m a whore/I’m an educated virgin and Cupid, don’t draw back your bow/Sam Cooke didn’t know what I know? They’re the only lyrics I can make sense of, but they’re to die for. [reference: Cupid, Sam Cooke]

Hey, Maverick is on NBC

Hey, Maverick is on NBC tonight. Jodie! (Too bad watching movies on TV almost always makes me want to harm someone. Physically.)

My mother is yelling at the football players on her TV. Straight people are weird.

Oh yeah, I removed it

Oh yeah, I removed it completely, since he’s on vacation, so it’s not likely to be fixed until next week. Mice, men, blah.

This whole stupid daylight savings

Posted on October 28th, 2000 / comments

This whole stupid daylight savings time thing reminds me of one of the reasons I like Spanish so much. They have this wonderful term: la madrugada. It’s a distinct period of the day, different from morning, afternoon, or evening. Closest English translation would be early, early in the morning, before the sun is up. None of this:

When do we change the clocks?
Sunday morning.
You mean Saturday night?
[sighs] Yes.

Somehow, I just can’t equate

Somehow, I just can’t equate using a trojan with “hacking,” even though as yet there’s been no indication of negative activity, or anything other than just looking around. You’d think this would automatically fall into the classic definition, but my brain still rebels against the media using the term. Maybe I’m just tired of hearing it used at all. And, oh yeah, if they’re actually located in Russia, with no Berne convention, they should publish and run like hell. :)
