Thinking about holidays, I just realized that I forgot to commemorate the Day of Lost Data, October 24th, this year. I think that’s bad mojo. (October 24th? 10-24? Geek joke, nevermind.)
I got JC. He’s actually always struck me as the least annoying one. Plus: dark-haired blue-eyed little twink? Looks like we finally have an accurate internet quiz!
Why not? (Have I mentioned lately that I really, really love CSS?)
And they say scientists have no sense of humor.
Of course someone has registered dotcom.org.
Signs that you have lost all grip on reality, first in a series: You remember your MetaFilter user id number off the top of your head. Number two is probably “your weblog contains three posts in a row pointing to things you’ve done elsewhere on the net.” No, that’s definitely number two.
My contribution to The Mayfly Project:Academic probation. First job. Lose first job. Several vacations. Sit on ass. No money. Panic. Sit on ass. Panic. The depressing part is, it not only wasn’t hard to sum up the last year in 20 words, I only used 19. *sob*
I submitted my desktop to K10K’s [on]display about 12,000 years ago. I just stumbled across it again. Woo. Talk about yer memory lane. (choose by name, “Jason LaCroix.” Yes, directly underneath Jason Kottke. Yes, I laughed too.)
Jakob Nielsen dances just for you. (1.15 MB. yes, MB.) Okay, this is just wrong. I don’t mean making fun of Jakob, of course, but that song is just horrendous. [via memepool]
It’s going to revert to standard time in Pyra-land in about 16 minutes. Yes, I really am this bored. :)
Well. The last updated thing seems to be stuck. The last entry is for 1:59, pacific daylight time. One can just imagine an alert box saying “Windows has changed your time settings. Please review these changes.” sitting unclicked on an NT box somewhere deep in the heart of Exodus’s bunker. I can almost find that funny, but not quite. Also, and possibly in some way related, saturn.org is down. This is just the weekend of server crashes and broken pipes, I guess. [this post was made after the one labled 4:44. So it switches all of the DST-afflicted time zones when 2:00 hits the western US, and doesn’t account in any way for the fact that other time zones switched earlier. Leading to weird stuff like this. Um, guys, wtf?]
Only 50 more minutes until it’s 10 minutes ago. DST is really, really stupid.
Hmm, I wonder if Blogger automatically changes to standard time, and if it does so retroactively as well… [I guess not. Maybe when it hits the west cost. Or maybe tomorrow. Or maybe (egads) I’ll have to do it manually.]
Woo! Hot! (no, I had nothing to do with this.)
Snippets of the new Wallflowers single keep running through my mind. Not a huge fan of the group. Not a huge fan of the song. But It’s where I’m from that lets them think I’m a whore/I’m an educated virgin and Cupid, don’t draw back your bow/Sam Cooke didn’t know what I know? They’re the only lyrics I can make sense of, but they’re to die for. [reference: Cupid, Sam Cooke]
