The House passed HR 418, the “Real ID Act” today. If passed in the Senate and signed into law, this would effectively create a national ID card and database of all licenced citizens, administered by the Homeland Security department. Needless to say, civil libertarians and other people with good common sense think this is a Bad Idea.
