Revisiting my last spurt-and-start here, I did eventually get a Gmail account, but it’s useless to me as I’m on a crippled Mac with only IE available (more below). Gmail requires any IE browser to have activeX enabled in order to use the site, and my employer has thoughtfully disabled activeX, permanently, on all the machines here. Not that I would turn it on if I could, as activeX is stupid and broken. Boo, Gmail.

But yeah, my only internet access is at work, since I did away with my home phone and joined the cellphone revolution. I haven’t gotten around to having enough money to jump on the broadband bandwagon yet. Besides which, DSL isn’t an option without home phone service, and I’m a wee bit leery of my only other option. I need to do something soon though. I’ve been online since I was 15. I’ve had a relationship with the internet longer than I’ve been with my husband. Bandwidth withdrawal is not fun.
